Birmingham Dance was originally created as an online space for dancers to share and connect. We are now an active organisation, working to inspire and enrich the dance community, and broaden its creative and professional networks.
International Dance Day, 29th April 2019
The theme for International Dance Day this year is ‘We Dance Together’.
Shall we, Birmingham?
Whatever you’re doing to celebrate – we’d like you to share it with us. Whether creating in the studio, performing on stage, or dancing in your garden – we wanna hear about it, and we wanna know!
Sharing is simple. Post your activity on twitter and tag @brumdance, or send it to us on our Facebook page: facebook.com/bhamdance. We’ll select three entries we think deserve a little extra attention, and feature a blog on our website for each one! Absolutely anyone who loves and lives for dance, are welcome to send something in.
This is a chance for us to connect, for you to create something new, and for us all to be part of the international celebration of the appreciation of dance as a valuable, and meaningful art form.
We look forward to seeing what you can do!
BEYOND WORDS @ THE BIRMINGHAM WEEKENDER!
As part of the Birmingham Weekender Festival this year, BD’s exciting new dance company ‘Beyond Words’ performed a brand new work of choreography. Originally commissioned for Hannah Brown’s music video ‘Stay’, and choreographed by Helen Calcutt, dancers worked with fluid interpretations of sign-language to a back-drop of lyrical music, to create a dance piece that left audiences ‘speechless.’
